Sandland Packaging are delighted to have retained PAS2060 Carbon Neutral certification with a 15.88% reduction in their carbon footprint equating to 968.18 tonnes of CO2e compared to the 12 month boundary period. This puts the company ahead of their target of achieving net Zero by 2040, 10 years ahead of the UK backstop.
This huge achievement is the result of strategic decision making, renewable electricity contracts and reduced purchasing, all while maintaining a comparable turnover.
Martin Hickman, Managing Director, confirmed, “Since becoming fully Carbon Neutral last year, the team have worked incredibly hard to focus efforts on continuing to reduce carbon emissions. And it’s paid off. We’ve knocked almost 1000 tonnes of CO2e off our output – an amazing achievement. Every company should be doing this – there are no excuses. Take the first step and start measuring your carbon emissions.”
The company are determined to maintain the rate of decarbonisation and will focus on the supply chain to assist in the accelerated journey to net Zero.
“This double-digit reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG’s) is testimony to the commitment everyone at Sandland has made in taking responsibility for the climate crisis. We are now working on the 2nd year reduction targets with the primary objective of mobilising the supply chain to accelerate their reduction in GHG’s.” said Dom Napier, Managing Director of TTBCG. “Responsibility of origination of emissions is the only way collectively we are going to achieve Net Zero. Collaboration is essential. Recent figures released today, say we may exceed the 1.5 degrees increase in world temperature as early as 2027! We ALL must begin to take responsibility and reduce our emissions TODAY!”
This commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2040, is not only born out of a commitment to the climate crisis, but also by the fact more customers are prioritising Net Zero within the procurement process and as such the company believes it can grow through its accelerated Net Zero strategy.
