About George Garvey – Commercial Assistant at Sandland Packaging

Say hello to George, one of the newest members of our team who’s already proving to be a packaging powerhouse! Since stepping into his role, George has hit the ground running, diving headfirst into the world of packaging with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.

Whether tackling tricky commercial challenges or finding our customers the perfect packaging solution, George is always ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work. He’s excited about the many successes ahead and looks forward to overcoming any packaging obstacle that comes his way.

We also dive into Georges hobbies and interests and learn a little bit more about shoegaze.

How long have you worked at Sandland Packaging?

I have been working at Sandland packaging for nearly two months now, as I started in mid-July!

Where did you work before?

Before Sandland I was at university so during that time I decided to focus on my studies. However, during the summer of 2020 I did work at a Tesco for a couple of months.

How did you find Sandland Packaging when you first joined?

After finishing formal education, the shift to a full-on working week was odd, but very quickly I found myself settling into it.

What is the best thing about working at Sandland Packaging?

The office culture is extremely team oriented. If one of us needs help, there will always be someone who will offer aid.

How has your career progressed?

As I am quite new to the team, I am still on the ground floor of my career; however, I can see tremendous room for progression.

What is Music genres do you like?

I like any genre of music, as long as it sounds good. Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of shoegaze.

What are your interests?

In my spare time I enjoy doing photography and playing guitar.

Coffee or Tea? Milk in first or last?

Coffee > Tea. You put the milk in first with coffee, and the milk in last with tea.

How do you cope with pressure?

I find myself working very well under pressure as I like to think on my feet. Often, pressure allows for me to gain a more intense focus on whatever I wish to achieve.

What's the best advice you've ever heard?

One can never show up on time, you’re either early or you’re late.
