On 10th June 2026, Martin Hickman, our Managing Director, is taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for Young at Heart — a charity that has supported his family through the most difficult journey of their lives. Martin’s grandson, Albert, was born with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome), a rare and life-threatening congenital heart condition. The team at Young at Heart charity has provided much needed support throughout the care and treatment.

At just 5 days old, Albert underwent his first open-heart surgery. At 5 months old, Albert faced his second open- heart surgery. Once again, the family waited, hoped, and trusted the incredible medical teams at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Throughout this journey, Young at Heart have been there, providing support, understanding and reassurance. Every donation, no matter how small, helps this charity continue their vital work and gives heart families the support, comfort and community that we have received.

The 3 Peaks Challenge

The 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in the UK in 24 hours — Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon.

Young at Heart charity

Young at Heart offers help and support to families of babies and children diagnosed with heart defects. It provides a support line and regular ward visits for parents during their time in hospital with their sick child. Its aim is to bring the families together at social events, where they can meet with other families, share experiences and the children make new friends.
